Jewish Service Corps Each year, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) assigns volunteers to overseas projects as part of its Jewish Service Corps (JSC). The JSC is a unique, one-year volunteer opportunity for active, enthusiastic, knowledgeable Jews to serve and take part in the life of a Jewish community abroad. With every assignment, JDC matches the unique skills of the volunteer with specific, timely Jewish community needs in the country of service. Once abroad, JSC volunteers create innovative programs and recruit and train local leaders to continue the work after the volunteer departs. The challenge of these volunteers is to promote Jewish identity and help communities become more self-sufficient in their Jewish programming activities. JSC sends volunteers all around the world, including countries such as Turkey, Poland, Romania, India, Ethiopia and Austria.
