Lois Shapiro, of Watchung, NJ, is a mixed media artist and hand paper maker, and has been making and teaching art as long as she can remember. Currently she is an instructor at the Newark Museum, NJ Center for Visual Arts, Somerset Art Association and the Union county Teen Arts. She also conducts workshops in the greater Metropolitan area. Lois founded Artshare, the Glove Project and is the coordinator of Women Against Breast Cancer. She’s also the originator of Editions, a limited edition artists’ book. Lois’ work may be found in museums and collections worldwide.
Lois’ inspiration:
I consider the silver leaves on my Tzedakah Box, a substitute for flames growing upward, much like the spirit of the Jewish People; solid, strong, valuable, important and lasting.
